POSITION SUMMARY |
To support secondary students develop skills in the areas of personal/social growth, educational planning, career and vocational development; on-call for Threat Assessments, as required by law.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with various stakeholders, including students, families, staff, and division colleagues.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adjust and adapt instructional strategies swiftly given the short duration of summer programs.
- Provides group guidance activities in order to provide information, skill building, opportunities for personal growth and development, orientation, and assistance in decision-making for enrichment.
- Provides an opportunity for individual counseling (one-on-one) and group counseling (growth engendering or remedial).
- Works in cooperation with other school personnel in identifying students with special needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the summer administrator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- Master's degree in School Counseling, required.
- Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher's license in School Counseling PK-12.
- Experience working in an elementary school environment.
- CPR and First Aid instructed (see TalentEd)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY |
|
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS |
The secondary counselor will create a work schedule to travel between the 3 secondary sites to provide teacher and student support based on identified needs; and, be on-call for Threat Assessment needs.
