Site/Location: Transportation/Facilities Reports to: Assistant Director of Facilities and/or Director of Facilities. Date: 07/18/2023
POSITION SUMMARY

 

Work hours: June 5-August 18, 2023 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with the possibility of split or altered shifts closer to the start of school.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Carry out the completion of assigned special custodial, grounds or other projects, by working reliably, independently, and complete related work as required.
  • Assists with LCS warehouse function as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor for Environmental Services, Supervisor for Grounds and Assistant Director for Facilities.
  • Operates LCS vans, trucks and box trucks properly and safely.
  • Stands on call and willing to return to duty as an emergency arises for any building need.
  • Instructs and trains Maintenance Workers, Maintenance Craftsmen I and Custodians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Assistant Director for Facilities and/or Director for Facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to lift various types of furniture, equipment and other bulky items.
  • Ability to work around extreme weather conditions for extended periods
  • Ability to safely operate trucks with lift gates, vans and various maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work extended or altered shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Supervisor.
  • Valid Va. Driver’s license preferred. 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Reliable transportation, necessary.

     

  • Daily travel between schools, LCS buildings and local areas, required.

  • Minimal travel outside of the City of Lynchburg required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outside or in unconditioned spaces.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work productively without close supervision.
  • Must be able to read and work from blueprints, sketches and schematic drawings.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
