SY 24-25 Head Custodian
GENERAL INFORMATION

POSITION SUMMARY

The custodian is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas to include vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, wiping, sanitizing, and emptying trash utilizing appropriate equipment, and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Locks and unlocks doors; activates and deactivates alarm systems.
  2. Sweeps, mops, dusts all classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and specialty rooms occupied by LCS staff.
  3. Keep buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
  4. Uses appropriate equipment and supplies to wipe and sanitize toilets, sinks, mirrors, countertops, windows and water fountains.
  5. Empty trash.
  6. Stocks paper products at all points of use like the faculty restroom on the RCI business hallway, as well as the restrooms on the Empowerment Academy hallway.
  7. Waxes floors and operates buffing machines.
  8. Vacuums and cares for building carpeting.
  9. Washes windows and furniture.
  10. Tidy the kitchenette areas by wiping off the counters and wipes out the microwaves.
  11. Replaces light bulbs, tubes, ceiling tile, switch and outlet plates and pencil sharpeners as needed.
  12. Complies with laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
  13. Moves furniture, folds and unfolds chairs as required.
  14. Mops classrooms, hallways, and offices of the LCS spaces.
  15. Contacts Shirley Rucker, Don Floyd, or Steve Gatzky for after-hour emergencies.
  16. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  17. Develops and maintains positive working relationships.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by administrators and/or supervisors.
  19. Perform other duties as directed by the school board.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Previous cleaning experience is preferred, but not required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • The Custodian does not supervise any other personnel.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Reliable transportation, necessary
  • Minimal travel within the City of Lynchburg as needed
  • Minimal travel outside of the City of Lynchburg as needed
