POSITION SUMMARY |
Performs responsible human support and paraprofessional work while assisting classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives; and while assisting students with achieving established goals. This alternative education program is not year round.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
- Assists classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
- Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning objectives introduced by teacher.
- Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher.
- Assists with large and small group activities.
- Guides independent study and other work assigned by teacher.
- Reports student problems to the teacher and assists with student problems.
- Assists with loading and unloading buses.
- Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch, recess and transitions.
- Assists with student routines.
- Performs related work as required.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Help maintain order in the classroom; monitors students to keep them on task.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred.
