POSITION SUMMARY

 

Provide continuity in the classroom instructional program in support of the school division's essential comprehensive educational program by carrying out the daily routine and instructional objectives of professional certified staff in their absence. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Locate, review and carry out the substitute schedule, procedures, duties and lesson plans. 
  • Follow lesson plans as left by the contracted teacher. 
  • Adress the various learning styles of students. 
  • Implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on student's prior knowledge and experience. 
  • Contribute to and manage an individual program plan for students with special needs. 
  • Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students. 
  • Demonstrate fair and ethical judgements. 
  • Apply appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behavior. 
  • Display problem-solvinig, cooperative negotiating skills, and conflict resolution strategies. 
  • Use classroom instruction time appropriately and wisely.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Prior experience working with children, preferred.
