POSITION SUMMARY |
The Student Services Supervisor will ensure the seamless delivery of support services for students through cooperative, collaborative, and timely efforts with school-based administrators, personnel in central office departments, and students and parents/guardians. The Student Services Supervisor monitors progress using quantitative and qualitative measures and participates in meetings regarding the student's plan and progress as part of the intervention process. The Student Services Supervisor assesses students' needs, collaborates with various community agencies to design individualized programs, and collaborates with administrators and teachers to help students and families meet their goals. The Student Services Supervisor collaborates with families to refer students to outside community agencies and to link them with recommended services. The Student Services Supervisor oversees all five of the alternative education programs and LCS Restore System.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
- Develop division-level intervention and prevention plans for students with at-risk populations.
- Develop, facilitate, conduct and analyze yearly school summits or community based informational planning for specific needs of the school and/or community.
- Collaborates with school staff to develop intervention and prevention strategies for students and develops individualized service plans to facilitate achievement and address at-risk students.
- Provides professional learning opportunities for classroom management and Restorative Practices,
- Coordinate with other LCS Departments to develop, implement, and oversee student-based mentoring programs.
- Provides families with information related to the needs of their child and acts as a resource to parents/guardians by providing family support activities.
- Assesses and monitors family and student progress and provides referrals and resources for students who are found to be using alcohol and other drugs.
- Manages the Substance Abuse Initiatives and programs for the division.
- Serves as a liaison between agencies such as human services, court services, community services boards, and/or community-based mental health agencies regarding substance abuse and/or social-emotional concerns affecting a student’s progress in the academic environment.
- Acts as a resource to administrators, school counselors, teachers, and health services personnel regarding intervention and prevention programs. Provides coverage for absent administrators as needed.
- Collaborates with, supports, and assists with the implementation of VTSS/ PBIS within the schools.
- Provided the School Board Discipline Committee with data and relevant reports.
- Maintains necessary records and reports, ensuring the confidentiality of students and their families. Submits required State and Federal reports.
- Develop and oversee all grants related to student services, intervention, and substance abuse, including regional and additional state grants.
- Inputs information for student services in a shared database.
- Assists in developing and implementing crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, student and family support interventions, problem-solving/decision-making, grief, anger management, and substance abuse programs under the supervision of the Student Support Supervisor.
- Conducts investigations relevant to Student Services and provides the supervisor with a summary in a timely manner.
- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Supervises the BCBA, Behavior Team, and division case manager.
- Onsite meetings at base school to facilitate the needs of the school or individual student(s).
- Attend community-based engagement activities to promote a positive school collaboration with families and community stakeholders.
- Attend community-based student engagement activities and interact with students to foster positive relationships (i.e., participate in planning, setting up, and interacting with students and families (games, speaking, talking face-to-face, and/ or facilitating the event, etc.).
- Onsite investigations and meetings with parents, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor (s).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |

Bachelor's degree required.
-
Master’s degree in school administration, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field Preferred.

Experience in the management of intervention prevention efforts and connecting students and families with related services preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES |
- Excellent project management, planning, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the code of Virginia regarding prevention strategies, mental health, and substance abuse resources for students and community resources available for students and families.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and community based-organizations.
- Experience with grant development, monitoring, and management
- An ability to conduct telephone-based or in-person interviews, data collection and data entry are preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to interact in a non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to student and family issues and concerns

- Knowledge of and experience with the Lynchburg City Schools organization, policies, and practices (preferred).

- Strong time management skills (organization, prioritization, multitasking).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with the use of computers (desktop, laptop, tablet).
- Proficiency with the use of mobile devices (smartphones, mobile apps).
- Solid knowledge and understanding of accurate and effective record-keeping and time management.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Drive and ability to learn new technical programs/practices as needed.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of equitable practices that create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for LCS staff, students, and community members.

- Reliable transportation necessary
